James Burnett is a proven emergency preparedness authority with hands-on, real-world experience navigating SHTF scenarios and crises both at home and abroad.
In the fall of 2012 he witnessed resource scarcity in Haiti, where electricity was available only a few hours each month and government-guarded fuel stations left citizens at the mercy of armed forces. In the summer of 2012 Virginia was struck by a powerful Derecho that left homes dark for six nights amid triple-digit heat. James witnessed neighbors fighting for the last bags of ice at convenience stores.
From 2020 to 2021 the COVID-19 lockdowns unraveled a level of government overreach never seen before, sparking global supply chain disruptions, emptying store shelves and closing local businesses. This prompted James to double down by moving out of the city and into the countryside where he and his family can be more self sufficient.
In 2022 the Atlantic Coast Pipeline cyberattack emptied local gas stations in under twenty-four hours and he depended on personal fuel reserves to maintain essential travel. That same year his five-acre homestead became the focus of a county battle over four backyard hens when his local government threatened to have him arrested over 4 hens he owned for eggs. By organizing support, presenting petitions, and engaging local officials he helped improve the local chicken ordinance.
James served in the U.S. Army NG as a 31C Radio Operator, deploying to Iraq in 2008 and 2009 operating SINCGARS (single channel radio systems) and AN/PRC-117 satellite manpack systems in combat environments.
Today, James shares practical prepping solutions that he has tested in real world situations through his YouTube channel and website. With James you can learn the ins and outs of emergency preparedness to include emergency communications, food & water storage, home defense & security and community.
